Working at SciLifeLab

For questions about work environment contact:

Transport of gas bottles

Gas bottles are very heavy and tall and it is a risk of accidents (tipping) during transport and handling if not following safe procedures. Always borrow the trolley intended for gas bottle transports in A260.

The trolley is placed next to the bottle to be transported and then the securing chain is removed and the bottle is transferred onto the trolley by one person. When the bottle is on the trolley secure it using the chain. Work in pairs, one person transports the bottle using the trolley and the second person assist, opening doors etc. Handle the bottle carefully to minimize the risk of tipping.

Transport in elevator, with no persons in it, instead one person meeting the elevator and one closing the door from the outside.

Return the trolley to A260 after use.
