Eight subjects ranked in the top 200 in the world 2026
Despite increasing competition, with more and more universities included in Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject, eight subjects at Stockholm University are once again ranked among the top 200 in the world. In law, the international ranking is higher than last year.

In January the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject was presented. In the ranking universities all around the world are listed from their performances in eleven subjects.
Stockholm University is ranked as follows within nine subjects, eight subjects at Stockholm University are ranked in the top 200:
Arts and Humanities (place 126–150 out of 817), Business and Economics (place 176–200 out of 1,067), Computer Science (place 401–500 out of 1,165), Education (place 151–175 out of 830), Law (place 82 out of 425), Life Sciences (place 91 out of 1,211), Physical Sciences (place 101–125 out of 1,497), Psychology (place 151–175 out of 694) and Social Sciences (place 87 out of 1,202).
In Sweden, Stockholm University is ranked as follows:
Arts and Humanities (place 3), Business and Economics (place 3 with Chalmers University of Tehcnology), Computer Science (place 6), Education (place 1 with KTH Royal Institute of Technology), Law (place 2), Life Sciences (place 4), Physical Sciences (place 2 with KTH Royal Institute of Technology), Psychology (place 3), Social Sciences (place 3).
The ranking by subject uses the same indicators as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025, based on 18 indicators within the areas teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.
